Hi, I'm Astrid and this is my personal journal. I intend it mostly for my own writing, but you're welcoem to add me if you'd like to read along. For those who might be interested, I'll give you a short bio below.
I was born three months prematurely on June 27, 1986. Because of my premature birth, I suffered from several complications, which caused me to now have multiple disabilities. I am blind and autistic and self-identify with a couple other things. I also have some chronic, mostly unexplained ailments. In 2007, I landed in a psychiatric crisis and had to be admitted to a mental hospital. I got several diagnosis, among which dissociative identity disorder and PTSD. In 2013, these were changed to borderline personality disorder, but I still identify as mid-continuum multiple and have some post-traumatic stress symptoms. I also suspect I may have an eating disorder, because I have binge eating episodes. I used to purge and my GP readily assumed I had bulimia. I didn't. Now that I no longer purge, it's terribly hard to be taken seriously as more than just a lazy, fat chick.
I don't have a paid job but I do keep busy. My main hobby is blogging. I have been an online diarist since 2002 and it gradually morphed into a blog. I have had my current blog since 2013. Other obbies include reading, crafting, yoga and going for walks.
I met my husband shortly before I was admitted into the mental hospital in 2007. We got married in 2011. IN late 2015, my husband moved to a tiny village in the eastern part of the Netherlands. I offificially live there too and plan to actually leave the psychiatric institution sometime this year.
